The oldest synagogue in the Caribbean, Beth Israel (established in 1962) is a center for Aruba’s Jewish community. Admire its stained-glass windows and explore the adjacent Jewish Cultural Museum for deeper insights into Sephardic history.

More Authentic Spiritual Sites and Events

  • St. Philomena’s Church, Paradera: The temple follows the Roman or Latin rite and was dedicated to St. Philomena, a Greek virgin and martyr venerated in the Catholic Church.
  • Protestant Church, Oranjestad. Build in 1846 this is the 2nd oldest standing building on Aruba next to Fort Zoutman. In 1950, a new church was constructed next to the old church.
  • The Dande Music during New Year’s Eve: A tradition of door-to-door blessings for the new year, blending prayer and folk music. If you have a chance, make sure to attend the Aruba Dande Festival in December.
  • Ayo Rock Formations: Ancient Caquetio petroglyphs revealing indigenous spirituality.
  • Bethania Chapel, Noord: Previously a closed convent, the Bethania Chapel is now under the care of the Bethania Chapel Foundation and opens its doors to the public on a few rare occasions with a unique view in the convent life.
